Hey There

I'm Lorraine and I live just outside of Glasgow in sunny Cambuslang with my hubby, 2 teenagers (oh joy!) and my mum.

I am a former drama teacher and have worked in the education sector for over 25 years. After the last couple of years during a pandemic and the loss of my father, I have been reassessing what is most important to me in life.  I have decided that my new pathway will incorporate what I love most - people and their stories.  I am delighted to have become a registered celebrant with the charity Humanist Society Scotland and to be in the privileged position to support others in some of the most important moment in their lives. I fully believe in the Humanist ethos and values that put human happiness at its heart, promotes tolerance, respect and understanding to allow all to fully flourish.

Now a wee bit of what I enjoy! I love the thrill of live theatre, the atmosphere of a good movie whether that's bawling my eyes out or getting caught up in the action and I adore the peace you find in the outdoors. Most of the time nowadays you can find me pottering in my garden as I have found a love of all things green fingered – growing my own veg and thinking of how I can possibly fit more plants in (I've already shifted the teens' trampoline for raised beds - oops!).

So why Humanism? Well having attended a number of Humanist weddings, funerals and naming days, I adore everything that a Humanist ceremony and celebration is. It is such a deeply personal approach and to me it is all about the people involved. Sharing their hopes for the future for their little one, for a couple on their wedding day or cherished memories of a loved one when they have passed.

I am currently available to conduct naming ceremonies, weddings, civil partnerships, elopements and vow renewals. 

 

If you wish to hold a naming ceremony to welcome the newest addition to your family, are celebrating a blending of families or anything else you feel fits what a naming ceremony could be, I would be deeply honoured and privileged to support you. In creating what you want for that special day with you, your family and friends, I will ensure that you have a ceremony that is personal to you, filled with special moments to remember in years to come.
